'Kaufland light'-testperiode in Bohemia
Kaufland's existing outlets usually have an area of between 4,000 and 5,000 square metres, and the new stores would have an area of about 2,000 sq m, this would make Kaufland a direct rival for Lidl.
As of next year, Kaufland plans to open
outlets in towns with a population of under 15,000. It will become a
direct rival for Lidl, Penny Market, and Plus Discount which have
virtually had a monopoly in these small towns.
