In the Czech Republic, the utilization of commercial accommodation has increased
The number of domestic and foreign tourists registered in commercial accommodation increased in the second quarter in the Czech Republic, but there is still a lack of wealthier tourists, mainly Russians, Chinese and Americans, the Czech Statistical Office stated in a report published on Wednesday.
5.8 million tourists stayed in hotels, guesthouses and campsites in the Czech Republic in the April-June period, which is an increase of 14.3 percent in one year. The number of domestic tourists increased by 4 percent, and that of foreigners by 31 percent. The number of guest nights was 2 percent lower than in the same period of 2019 before the epidemic.
Revenues from services in tourism increased by 0.7 percent. In the national economy, however, the revenues of the service sector decreased by 3.5 percent year-on-year, with the largest decline, 11.3 percent, occurring in the field of transportation and warehousing.
“Although the tourism data is already close to the data of 2019, it is clear that tourists are saving money and spending less than before. This is primarily shown in the shortening of the time of visits,”
stated Ladislav Vesely, director of the Slevomat specialist portal, to the CTK news agency declaring. He pointed out that because of the war in Ukraine, Russian and Chinese tourists are missing, but also Americans, who usually spent more than the average tourist. ”
Although the number of German tourists is constantly increasing, there are still 14.5 percent fewer Germans staying in hotels than in 2019, noted Ladislav Vesely.
According to Jaroslav Svoboda, the owner of the Czech Inn Hotels chain, the problem is that, compared to neighboring countries, the level of services in the Czech Republic is lower and does not rise at a pace comparable to that of its neighbors.
