István Széchenyi University has signed a strategic agreement with a Czech agricultural company
István Széchenyi University has entered into a strategic agreement with Prague-based Agrofert, one of Central Europe’s leading agribusinesses, the university announced to MTI on Thursday.

Within the framework of the agreement, the relationship between the Győr, Mosonmagyaróvár and Zalaegerszeg innovation parks connected to Széchenyi István University, as well as the external departments created in the Bábolna Campus project belonging to Agrofert, will be strengthened. As a practical location, the company supports the education of students and the professional activities of young researchers involved in scientific student work and the cooperative doctoral program, they wrote.
According to the announcement, Agrofert is a holding company consisting of more than 200 companies
Its activities cover the chemical industry, agriculture, the food industry, renewable energy sources, forestry and the wood industry. With its two Hungarian subsidiaries, IKR Agrár Kft. and Agrotec Magyarország Kft., the Széchenyi István University has maintained a privileged partnership since 2022, they added. In addition to the Czech Republic, the group has interests in Germany, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Croatia and Romania. The company was founded by Andrej Babis, the former prime minister of the Czech Republic, after the regime change.
