Almost 20 percent cheaper food? The government is satisfied with the results of the margin reduction
“Thanks to the margin reduction, more and more products can be purchased cheaper, and we will continue to take decisive action against unjustified, excessive price increases and price hikers,” said Róbert Zsigó in his video message published on Tuesday.
According to the Fidesz MP, the prices of food and certain services previously increased unjustifiably. This should not be allowed to continue, because this has put families and the elderly in a difficult situation – he added.
The politician emphasized that
as a result of the margin reduction introduced for 30 food categories in March, the affected products have become 19.3 percent cheaper, and there are 270 foods for which you have to pay at least 30 percent less in stores.
Another good news is that the prices of more and more products are decreasing, so you now have to pay less for 905 foods – he noted.
The inspections have so far covered 723 stores, and the work continues. In doing so, they are ensuring that retail chains comply with the rules, he said.
After food, services were also included, so we have now managed to ensure that TV, telephone and internet prices will not increase next year. The prices of banking services have also been reduced, and negotiations are now continuing with insurance companies in the interest of the Hungarian people, explained Róbert Zsigó.
