Nébih spends almost 1 billion forints on development and training at its experimental and breeding stations
The National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) is modernizing the infrastructure of its variety testing and breeding stations in Monorierdő, Pölöské, Székkutas and Tordas with a non-refundable grant of HUF 984.73 million. Among other things, the authority will spend the amount of the subsidy on the purchase of new power machines, harvesters, gardening tools and meteorological stations. The experts present the results achieved during the development of the demonstration plants in programs consisting of theoretical and practical lectures.

The Government’s goal is to encourage participation in lifelong learning, which is actively supported by the grant code number VP1-1.2.1-23, entitled “Support for Demonstration Plants”. The results of the variety recognition system implemented at the Nébih variety experiment and variety breeding stations have a significant influence on the performance of the agricultural sector. By modernizing the stations, plant variety experiments can be carried out, thanks to which the negative effects resulting from the uncertainty of agricultural cultivation can be reduced, the crop safety can be increased, and the quality, which is of outstanding importance from the point of view of food safety, can be increased. Through the development of the variety experiment stations and the variety breeding station, the participants can gain practice-oriented knowledge beyond the use of varieties, about current production procedures and the application of farm organization models. Farmers receive detailed information about the innovative varieties that can be grown to achieve higher yields. In addition, the environmental burden can be reduced with disease-resistant varieties, which thus contributes to sustainability in agriculture. The varieties are examined by the authority at different production sites in the country, thanks to which they have data for each production site on the most important economic value measuring properties of the varieties of the various arable, horticultural and forestry species.
With the support of the project number 3485148078, a demonstration plant will be implemented at 3 variety experimental and 1 variety breeding stations (Monorierdő, Pölöske, Székkutas, Tordas)
As a result of the development, the station network will be improved with new power machines and harvesters, gardening tools, working tools for organic farming, meteorological stations and tools for seed processing. Thanks to the investment, 10 power machines (90-200 HP) worth HUF 982.49 million gross will be acquired: plot combine, frost protection wind machine, flat wall cutter, weed comb, short disc with small seeding unit, mulcher, chaffing machine, seed cleaner, grain whole grain analyzer, as well as meteorological stations . The results achieved during the development of the demonstration plants are presented by the specialists of the office in programs consisting of theoretical and practical lectures. The project with identification number 3485148078 is expected to be completed by the beginning of September 2025.
