Only LCD and plasma televisions achieved growth
In the first half of the year, the market of consumer electronics contracted by 25 percent in both value and volume, compared to the same period last year – finds Gfk Hungária’s latest survey. Cathode ray tube television sales fell by 55 percent and MP3/MP4 player sales dropped by 33 percent. In the LCD and plasma television category there was an 8 percent growth in terms of volume, but in terms of value the trend was negative here as well. According to Gfk Hungária, LCD/PDP TV has become the most important product category, followed by DVD players.
