Coca-Cola HBC Hungary: after last year’s decline, the turnover of the coffee market is increasing again
Last year, the turnover of the coffee market fell due to the unfavorable economic environment, but in the first four months of the year the growth started again – said Zoltán Kedves, director of the coffee and premium alcohols business of Coca-Cola HBC Hungary.
Presenting the data of market researcher Nielsen, he stated: the value of the domestic coffee retail market (including grain, ground and capsule types, excluding instant coffee products) in the period between May 2023 and April 2024 was HUF 75 billion, the turnover was 14.4 thousand tons , about 60 percent of which was accounted for by ground coffees.
He added that in the first four months of this year, the previous downward trend was reversed, and the market expanded by 1.8 percent in volume and 5.7 percent in value compared to the same period in 2023.
Coca-Cola HBC Hungary is present in the premium segment covering 9 percent of the entire retail coffee market with the Costa Coffee and Caffé Vergnano brands: they have a 2.1 percent market share in the retail market. In the HORECA (hotels, restaurants, cafés) sector, including premium coffees, the company is in the top three.
