CIES: business objectives and responsibility
According to a survey conducted for CIES, manufacturers and retailers agree: leading enterprises in the food sector are able to view issues from a far wider than purely business perspective. Over 400 managers from 52 countries have been asked about the tasks they regard as their top three priorities for 2008. We have received a copy of the results under the title „Top of Mind 2008” from Anne Malbrancq of CIES. One out of two managers mentioned corporate responsibility, putting it on top of the list. Food safety finished in second place this year, after last year’s eighth. This topic was a key issue last year, subject to world-wide discussion. Efforts to make diets healthier came third, after last year’s first place. Maintaining consumer demand in a harsher economic environment made the greatest leap from 14th place in 2007, to the fourth in 2008. It should be noted, that both manufacturers and retailers listed the above priorities in the same order.
