Changes in the food book, new trademarks are about to be introduced
Conscious consumer behaviour can play a vital role in battling food products of lower quality; therefore the government has decided to launch an education campaign and to introduce new trademarks. Róbert Zsigó, secretary of state at the Ministry of Agriculture told that the changes made in the Hungarian Food Book and the government’s 20-point action plan improve the quality of groceries and the working conditions of controlling authorities. At the moment Hungarian food quality rules are one of the strictest in the European Union. The secretary of state is of the opinion that the measures they have taken can bring the desired results in 3-4 years’ time. Mr Zsigó said about the double standards in food product quality that it is an EU-level problem that needs to be solved in cooperation with other countries. //
