Brussels wants to take away area-based agricultural subsidies from farmers
Brussels is planning to take away area-based agricultural subsidies from farmers, Minister of Agriculture István Nagy said on Monday in a video message uploaded to his Facebook page.
He stated that they will not let this happen, they will protect the interests of the farmers by all means. They also strongly refuse to reduce the resources of the common agricultural policy (KAP), István Nagy indicated. He pointed out: the master plan of Brussels politics to eliminate the financial independence of the common agricultural policy. This must be protested with all our might. The subsidies to farmers cannot be reduced, nor can a producer be excluded from the resources, on whom the EU rules have placed any additional environmental burden – emphasized the head of the ministry. He added that Europe’s food supply and food security cannot be harmed. Any decision or measure that reduces farmers’ resources or imposes other purposes on the resources threatens food sovereignty. The national government is always on the side of the farmers, which is why it wants a farmer-centered agriculture that is competitive, sustainable, crisis-resistant and knowledge-based, because this means security – said István Nagy.
