British Poultry Council: there will not be enough Christmas turkeys if seasonal workers in Eastern Europe are not allowed to be exempted from quarantine
According to the British Poultry Breeders’ Business Organization, seasonal workers from Central and Eastern European EU countries, including Hungary, need to be exempted from the quarantine obligation imposed on the UK due to the coronavirus pandemic, as without them the traditional British Christmas turkey lunch could be jeopardized.
In a call issued on Wednesday night, the British Poultry Council is proposing that the British government exempt at least a thousand Hungarian, Polish, Romanian, Bulgarian, Slovak, Czech and Slovenian seasonal workers from mandatory segregation for foreigners for two weeks this Christmas season.
