The market of baking additives, dessert powders and fruit preserving agents expands
Powder product sales are on the increase, the market expanded by 17 percent in terms of value in August 2008-July 2009, to surpass the annual HUF 8 billion level. In terms of volume, growth was 8 percent. Baking additives boast a 47 percent market share (with vanillin sugar going strong at 42 percent), dessert powders have 39 percent, down 2 percent (traditional pudding represents two thirds) and fruit preserving agents are up by 2 percent to 14. The average consumer price per kg of baking additives was HUF 2,204 in June-July 2009 (up from 2,041 last year), dessert powders cost HUF 1,755 per kg (up from 1,635 last year). Private labels have a 24 percent share on the powder product market, in terms of volume.
