Metro to expand private label range
Metro has 24 private labels comprising around 800 products. The private labels account for around 7% of the chain’s portfolio, but the share will grow to around 10% in the next year and a half and that the range will be continuously extended.
Metro Group owned Metro Cash &
Carry will add new private labels items to its product range, the
company’s general manager for Eastern Europe and Bulgaria, Emiliyan
Abadjiev, said. He added that with the current 11 cash & carry
stores in Bulgaria’s major cities, the chain has almost finished
its expansion in Bulgaria, but there is potential for two to four
more stores.
The company plans to rename the local Aro stores so
that clients do not associate the store only with the low-cost brand.
