In Bosnia, the cheeseburger was defeated by the Čevap, McDonald’s withdraws
McDonald’s withdraws from Bosnia and Herzegovina. The local steakhouses, shops selling chevaps, pljeskavicas and kebabs offer their heartier dishes at a cheaper price, and by the end of the year it was also revealed that the American fast food chain is giving up the competition.

Many local fast food restaurants are cheaper
According to the Sarajevo news portal Klix.ba, the first McDonald’s opened in Bosnia-Herzegovina in 2011, of which there were three in the country in the capital, Sarajevo, and two in the popular tourist city, Mostar.
Last year, it was heard several times that McDonald’s fast-food restaurants in Bosnia were unprofitable. In the last days of December, long lines formed at restaurants, everyone wanted to have one last bite of American hamburgers.
A man advertised the last McDonald’s hamburger he bought in Bosnia-Herzegovina for 2,000 convertible marks, i.e. more than 40,000 forints, after the last store of the fast food chain closed in the Western Balkan country at the end of last year.
