Teya Hungary’s bank card use data reveal that Hungarian consumers gave an average tip of 8.12% in restaurants in 2025.

The card acceptance service provider published data on tipping for the first time, which shows that the amount of tips varies by sector and season. Teya Hungary claims that the spread of digital payments and service charges is transforming the role of tipping: it is increasingly becoming a conscious, optional gesture.
