A large quantity of wine was produced last year
According to French market analyst Tallage, this summer farmers will harvest 143 million tons of wheat in the EU.
As for corn, the yield is expected to be around 63.4 million tons. Data from the European Commission (EC) revealed that the EU’s poultry meat export grew by 12 percent to 471,000 tons, while poultry meat import augmented by 13 percent to 226,000 tons. In Hungary the live weight price of broiler chicken increased by 3.6 percent to HUF 258/kg in the first 22 weeks of 2019. EC data say that in the same period the average price of whole chicken was EUR 186/100kg in the European Union; in Hungary this price was HUF 486/kg.
The National Council of Wine Communities (HNT) has reported that 392,000 tons of wine grape had been harvested in Hungary in 2018. From this 3.75 million hectolitres of wine was made – 30 percent more than the wine production of 2017. According to the latest EC report, wine production in the European Union reached 182.3 million hectolitres last year (calculated without grape juice and must), 27 percent more than in 2017. //
