BMI: Marked contraction in June
The seasonally adjusted June value of the Purchasing Manager Index (BMI): 44.2.
Compared to the previous June values, this year’s value is lower than the long-term average for this month (52.3) and also below the average for this month of the previous three years (51.9).
All but one of the sub-indices examined in the survey decreased, the values mostly indicate a narrowing. In one case, the rate of change exceeded thirty percentage points.
The value of the employment index is 3.5 percentage points lower this month, showing contraction for the first time in twenty months. In the past period, the index hovered around 50.0 points, which shows a slight decline this month (49.2).
