Shops are shining stars now… or maybe not
Compared to last year’s store closures, yes. The calendar of recent statistics moved to the weeks after it opened on April 8, but the comparable period remained in last year’s store closures. Revenue at online reaper stores rose 8%, but down 16% from April of the previous year. Of course, every penny has to be happy.
From April 8, 2021, the stores could reopen, which obviously pulled the shopkeeper’s scales upwards, if slowly. Pre-Easter shopping also strengthened this period, with a 15-17% surge in grocery revenues. But in the monthly statistics, when you calculate the volume data, you’re going to have to deduct the increase from that. And in the previous year, there was no pantyion in these weeks, so food shopping was more subdued at the time.
