Black Friday: GVH warns of the importance of conscious shopping before the sale season
Although the official Black Friday will only take place on November 29, various tempting offers and sales have already appeared, with which retailers are trying to grab the attention of customers. In connection with this, the Economic Competition Authority (GVH) launched its campaign called “Think Calmly”, the aim of which is to inform and protect customers. With advice, informative videos and various educational materials, GVH helps consumers to make informed decisions and not fall for possibly misleading offers – Pénzcentrum writes.
What should we pay attention to during Black Friday sales?
According to GVH’s experience, during Black Friday, retailers often use marketing techniques such as advertising significant discounts, which, however, only apply to limited products. A “bait sale” is common, in which products are advertised at a discount that are hardly in stock. In addition, online stores often use urgent messages to exert psychological pressure on customers.
According to the GVH, consumers can achieve significant savings through careful shopping, provided that the promotions take place within a fair framework. Follow the advice below to avoid disappointment:
We check the real discounts!: Don’t forget to check whether the discount price is really favorable, taking into account possible extra costs, such as the delivery fee.
Let’s use price comparison sites!: It often happens that the desired product is available at a better price elsewhere. However, be aware that the lists may also contain paid advertisements.
We check the authenticity of the online store!: If you only find 5-star reviews, you should be suspicious, because these could also be artificially generated reviews.
Let’s check the availability of customer service!: An authentic store should always be available. The lack of customer service is always a cause for suspicion.
Take the time to read the General Terms and Conditions (GTC)! Don’t forget the right of cancellation!: Internet purchases are subject to the right of cancellation for 14 days after receiving the product, which ensures that we can return the goods.
