Lessons learned from the 33rd BIOFACH international bio fair
For the tenth time, the Ecological Agricultural Research Institute (ÖMKi) organized the East-Central Europe section at the world’s leading organic fair. Hungary is recognized as the regional flag-bearer at the world’s largest organic-themed military parade, and once a year, as part of the event, high-level political representatives discuss the current situation of organic agriculture in Central and Eastern European countries.
July 25-28, 2022 the 33rd BIOFACH, the largest European fair for organic products, was held between Last year, the exhibition and the related congress were organized in an online eSPECIAL edition due to the pandemic, so after two years there was great anticipation for the opportunity to present organic products and to exchange ideas again in a large-scale exhibition and conference space that ensures personal meetings.

“Ecological objectives in the shadow of war – How does the military conflict affect the agricultural policy of the East-Central European region?”
entitled, for the tenth time, the ÖMKi organized a policy section. In addition to Hungary, this time representatives of Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Serbia and Albania performed. The starting point of the deliberations in the section was the EU’s Ecological Management Action Plan, which sets ambitious goals until 2030. How do common objectives appear in the CAP strategic plans of Central and Eastern European countries? How are these policies affected by the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, as well as how the related policies of neighboring non-EU countries react to this?
