Mondi manufacturing its brand new bags in Békéscsaba
Mondi Consumer Flexibles opened its expanded production facility in Békéscsaba on 19. May. As a result of the expansion, production capacity has been doubled, with 2 500 square meters of factory and 1 500 square meters of warehouse. This is also the first plant in Europe to make reclosable bags. Reclosable bags have brought a major change into the storage of pet food and are playing an increasingly important role in non-food categories as well. This is why two production lines have been installed in the MP plant for making reclosable bags. A team of technicians from MP Lindlar (Germany) have provided assistance in installation work, owing to the co-operation existing between the two production facilities. Experts in R&D Center (the innovation centre of the Mondi group) are working constantly on improving packaging solutions. Reclosable bags are the result of this work. Békéscsaba is the first place in the CEE region where Click & Close bags are manufactured. These not only protect but also advertise the product. The size of the bags varies between 1.5 kg and 25 kg capacity. – This investment allows us to provide the best quality and service for our eastern European customers – said Jakob Mosser, CEO of Mondi Consumer Flexibles at the opening ceremony. – Work had begun in May 2008 and was completed by the end of the year – added Zsolt Majer, head of the MP Békéscsaba plant. Partners of Mondi include manufacturers of pet food, snacks, sweets, frozen or dried products, household chemicals, cosmetics and many other products. After obtaining the ISO 14001:2004, ISO 9001:2000 and HACCP certificates, the strict BRC/IoP food hygiene standards has also been introduced by MP Békéscsaba in the expanded facility. The Safety, Health and Environment policy of the Mondi group is treated as a priority.
