More than HUF 300 million in support for the summer student work program in Békés county
This year, more than 1,500 full-time students and university students between the ages of 16 and 25 can undertake summer student work in July-August in Békés County; for the implementation of the program, the government provides more than HUF 305 million in non-refundable support – the Békés County Government Office announced in a statement to MTI on Tuesday.
In the past eleven years, the government has helped 20,000 young people in the county find summer jobs with about HUF 2 billion. During the eleven years of the program so far, the government has supported the employment of approximately 300,000 pupils and students nationwide with a total of HUF 30 billion – they explain. According to the announcement, the largest employers within the summer student work program are local governments. The catering industry and tourism are the second, while only a small part of the students work in agriculture. The goal of the program is to achieve full employment, reduce youth inactivity, gain early work experience and work income; to this end, they encourage the vacation employment of high school and university students with wage subsidies. HUF 3.8 billion is available nationally for the implementation of the program.
