David Beckham, Pélé and Ronaldinho star in new Pepsi MAX ad
Soft drink brand Pepsi MAX is uniting football stars from across the generations for a jam-packed new campaign featuring David Beckham, Alexia Putellas, Leah Williamson and Lauren James.
Centred around a whirlwind 60-second spot, ‘Refresh the Game’ sees Putellas, Williamson and James travel through time, alongside Caroline Graham and Farah Jefry to play with some of football’s historic icons.
Blending historic footage of Brazil legend Pélé, as well as previous Pepsi ads featuring Ronaldinho and a younger Beckham – the game’s modern female stars are seen interacting directly with the three trailblazers.
“Our new film, Refresh the Game, is a powerful tribute to football’s iconic figures and a bold look at the game’s dynamic future. At Pepsi MAX, we’re actively investing in the growth of women’s football, backing the game-changers who are pushing boundaries and igniting passion,” said Steven Hind, CMO of beverages UK and Ireland at Pepsi MAX
“Pepsi MAX’s DNA is rooted in challenging norms and driving innovation, evident in both our products and partnerships, and this campaign embodies that spirit.”
The tongue-in-cheek spot closes with a surprise in-person appearance by Beckham, re-creating his popular cowboy look made famous by his appearance in a 2003 ad for the US drinks brand.
