Cash use is about to wave goodbye in Sweden
A recent study by the KTH-Royal Institute of Technology found that Sweden is the world leader in non-cash payment transactions. According to the study, at the moment there are less than 80 billion Swedish crones (SEK) in circulation, while six years ago this sum was SEK 106 billion.
Today 80 percent of retail transactions are realised using plastic cards in Sweden. Swedish consumers can also use the local iZettle mobile payment solution or the Swish mobile app when buying in small shops or from street vendors.
