Anyone can get their own wine from Tokaj by adopting a vine
The difficult period, which also affects winemakers, opened the door to crowdfunding. In Tokaj-Hegyalján, for example, anyone can adopt a vine, and after a year, without any effort, they can even get their own wine with their own name.
“I found the Brancs community marketplace on the Internet completely by accident, and I really liked how innovative they are, how they embrace new ideas and give them space. I already had the idea of MyWine last year, but I hadn’t worked on its development at the time, but Brancs made it clear to me that it is time to implement this idea. This is a crowdfunding where people can buy different packages, there is also a supporter package, which is still less known in Hungary, but already works well in many countries, the point is, that in this way an agricultural program supported by the community is realized. During community financing, the consumer learns about the origin of the food, in our case the cultivation and harvesting of grapes, the winemaking process, and the maker himself, and thus a trust is formed between the producer and the consumer. This was also our goal, to make a wine together with the consumer in which both of us are enthusiastic about”
István Takács, winemaker, tells HelloVidék.
It is interesting that the adopter also receives regular information about the work processes.
