Visitors to Lake Balaton for a short time, just a few hours or a day, are looking for complex experiences, which is why service providers who offer multiple experiences can be successful in the winter – the Balaton Tourism Association informed MTI about the quick analysis on Saturday.

In addition to viewing the winter panorama of the lake, ice skating is an increasingly popular program. So far this year, nine settlements on Lake Balaton have announced that they will open artificial ice rinks, of which the highest traffic is expected in Balatonfüred, Siófok, Fonyód, Balatonboglár, Balatonalmádi and Keszthely – the announcement said.

According to the Balaton Tourism Association, those rinks that complement skating with other, quality services and programs, such as hot drinks, local gastronomic offerings, cultural events or family programs, will be truly successful.

The reason for this is simple: guests want to have a complex experience during their short stay there. If there is no opportunity for relaxation, meals or other leisure activities around the ice rink, visitors will quickly move on, they wrote.

The association said that almost half of the guest nights at Lake Balaton take place outside the high season, which clearly shows that short visits typical of winter, autumn and spring are playing an increasingly important role in the region’s tourism.
