Proposed new US dietary guidelines may prioritise plant proteins
The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Agriculture (USDA) are considering new dietary guidelines that would shift emphasis towards plant proteins for the first time. A preliminary draft of the new guidelines was discussed at a National Institutes of Health (NIH) meeting on 21 October, as part of the five-yearly review. The recommendations will be used as the basis for a flexible core dietary proposal, with additional options to take into account different dietary preferences.//
