EU Member States recognize the Hungarian biomass initiative
The majority of EU Member States and the European Commission have recognized the importance of the Bioeast initiative launched for a Hungarian proposal to support agricultural research and development and the biomass-based economy – Nagy István, Minister of Agriculture said at the informal meeting of EU agriculture ministers in Bucharest.
According to the communication of the Ministry of Agriculture (AM), Nagy István pointed out that biomass-based management will play an increasingly important role in sustainable agricultural production. It is in Hungary’s fundamental interest to exploit its potential. Eastern Central Europe – including Hungary – is a rich area of biomass, but most of this capacity is still little utilized – the Minister reminded. (MTI)
