Poultry has become more expensive in the EU too
According to AKI PÁIR data, the live weight producer price of slaughter chickens in Hungary increased by 7.8 percent to 447.7 forints/kilogram, and that of slaughter turkeys by 10.0 percent to 649.2 forints/kilogram in 2025 compared to 2024.

The processing sales price of chicken breast fillets was 2017.7 forints/kilogram (+14.0 percent), bone-in chicken breast was 1266.2 forints/kilogram (+7.9 percent), the price of chicken breast (total) was 1923.3 forints/kilogram (+10.9 percent), and chicken thighs were 917.7 forints/kilogram (+5.0 percent) in the observed year. According to European Commission data, the EU average price of a whole chicken was 292 euros/100 kilograms in 2025, which was 8 percent higher than in 2024.
