The Austrian apple producers are feeling the impact of the Russian import ban
The Austrian apple producers are feeling the impact of the Russian embargo. The export about 500 tonnes of high quality Austrian apples to Russia have failed yet – the President of the Styrian Chamber of Agriculture said.
Styria is Austria “apple-great power”. Eighty percent of the nation's apple production is focused on this territory. This year 180 thousand tonnes of apples are expected to be harvested in Styria, 12 thousand tonnes in Lower Austria, 10 thousand tonnes in Upper Austria, 9 thousand tonnes in Burgenland and 3 thousand tonnes in the surrounding area of Vienna.
