Demand shifted towards cheaper gift packages
In the 2009 and 2010 seasons retail sales of gift packages containing body lotions and other cosmetics products were around HUF 3 billion. In the last season values sales dropped 2 percent and volume sales gained 1 percent – compared with the situation a year earlier. Last November-December the market shifted towards packages below the HUF 1,000 price level: their market share grew from 24 to 30 percent. In Christmas packages deodorants are the most frequent, followed by shower gels, hand creams and body lotions, soap and shampoo. 80 percent of gift packages are sold in December.
