LG named to Dow Jones Sustainability World Index for 13th consecutive year
LG Electronics (LG) has been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) for the 13th consecutive year. DJSI World ranks the top 10 percent of the 2,500 largest global companies based on their economic, environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices, providing investors with a benchmark for assessing corporate sustainability.
LG received the highest score in the Leisure & Entertainment Products and Consumer Electronics industry categories, and remains the only South Korean company to be included in the category for 13 consecutive years.
LG also made the DJSI Asia Pacific list (top 20 percent of the 600 largest companies in Asia Pacific) for the 15th consecutive year and the DJSI Korea list (top 30 percent of the 200 largest Korean companies) for the 16th consecutive year.
LG received high ratings in various ESG areas, including environmental policy and management, human rights, human resource management, customer service quality, supply chain management and product responsibility system.
LG’s 3C strategy, implemented within its “Better Life for All” ESG vision, focuses on the planet (Carbon neutrality, Circularity and Clean technology), while its 3D strategy focuses on people (Decent workplace, Diversity & inclusion, Design for all).
To achieve its 3C strategy for the planet, LG has set ambitious commitments, including achieving carbon neutrality in its product manufacturing process by 2030 and transitioning to 100 percent renewable energy by 2050.
LG plans to reduce direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions from its product manufacturing processes by 54.6 percent compared to 2017 levels. This will be achieved through process improvements, the introduction of energy-saving technologies, and the use of renewable energy. LG was the first company in the home appliance industry to earn a UN carbon credit in 2015.
