On top of the wave of inflation
Consumer prices rose at peak rate in the first months of the year. According to a KSH survey, the average increase in consumer prices was 1,2 per cent in February, whereas prices were 8,8 per cent higher compared to last February. The prices of seasonal foods, pastas, bread, flour and cooking oil showed increase, while that of pork and pork grease decreased. The price of food shows more than average increase (12,8 per cent) compared to last February. The price of agricultural produce was 14,3 per cent higher than a year before. The price of vegetables grew by 11,2 per cent, while the price of fruits increased by 24,7 per cent compared to January, 2006.
