Inflation can also be seen in popular fish dishes

These iconic elements of Hungarian culinary culture remain staples at lunch and dinner tables, especially during religious holidays and the summer months. Analysis by HelloVidék highlights the noticeable impact of inflation on fish dishes in 2024.
Traditionally, Hungarians enjoy fish dishes during summer vacations and religious holidays. Although fish consumption in Hungary is still relatively low, the popularity of such dishes continues. According to a report by HelloVidék, prices for fish soup, fried hake, and other fish dishes have seen significant increases this year. Prices at surveyed rural restaurants range from 3,000 to 5,000 HUF for fish soup, with similar price ranges for fried fish and other dishes.
