Restaurateur of the Year 2025
Established by the Guild of Hungarian Restaurateurs (MVI), the Restaurateur of the Year award went to Gianni Annoni this year.

Gianni Annoni
Chef, restaurant owner, economist, and television presenter, Gianni Annoni came to Budapest on a scholarship from LIUC – University Carlo Cattaneo in Italy to study economics and then settled in Hungary. He opened several restaurants, the best known of which are Trattoria Pomo d’Oro and the other branches of Via Italia: Osteria Pomo d’Oro, Gelateria, Casa, and most recently Pizza Bar Pomo d’Oro.
Gianni Annoni says he is driven by the Italian style and way of life, and the passing on of his dedication to hospitality. He runs a cooking school, gives motivational and university lectures and has published two books. He is a member of the Pannon Gastronomic Academy, the Hungarian Bocuse d’Or Academy, the Hungarian Sommelier Association, and the Chaine des Rotisseurs. He believes that authentic Italian cuisine isn’t just a collection of recipes, but a cultural identity and mindset that must be consistently represented in Hungary as well. High-quality ingredients, traditional techniques, and a passionate attitude are all essential for authenticity.
