Interview with the restaurateur of the year
This year János Garaczi, the chef/co-owner/manager of Lajosmizsei Tanyacsárda was awarded the ‘Restaurateur of the year’ title.
Q: – You have already won several prizes. What made you the winner this time?
A: – Probably the work I did in MNGSZ (Hungarian Gastronomic National Association) and in Knights of the White Table, plus training the national team.
Q: – You did much more than simply training them!
A: – Yes, I also supported the team financially because there was a critical point when they were preparing for the World Cup.
Q: – What is your opinion about Tanyacsárda getting 9.5 points from Restaurant Guide?
A: – It is not a bad result but it could have been better – probably the critics did not come at the best time. I think we meet international expectations, we have been only using fresh base material for decades and I keep learning: I recently earned a degree at the French Chef Academy.
Q: – What are your plans for the future?
A: – We will keep trying to be better, for instance this year we will renovate our restrooms and we will make Tanyacsárda accessible for the disabled.
