Hungarian employment is among the top in Europe
The Hungarian labor market is among the top in the European Union, ranking sixth in terms of employment and ninth in terms of unemployment, the State Secretary for Employment Policy of the Ministry of National Economy said on Tuesday in the program Ma reggel on the M1 channel.
Sándor Czomba highlighted: in the past year, an average of about four million seven hundred thousand people worked in Hungary, and in the first quarter, 7 thousand more people worked than in the same period of the previous year.
No deterioration is expected in this regard in the coming period, as many investments are being started that will create new jobs, he underlined.
One of the biggest challenges is that the two hundred and fifty to three hundred thousand people who are inactive or registered as job seekers must be helped back into the labor market as soon as possible
– he said.
Until 2010, it was more worthwhile to live on benefits, but now it is clearly visible that people are trying to make a living not through the benefits system, but through work – said the State Secretary.
Sándor Czomba mentioned that about ten thousand workers are missing from the labor market, according to him, although the manufacturing industry “is a little weak, the service sector is compensating for this”. He said that he is convinced that “in the coming period, the manufacturing industry and within it, the vehicle manufacturing industry will also take part in the expansion.”
He added that they help with training and retraining. He mentioned the work-to-work program as an example, which in his opinion can offer hope to those who have been dismissed from their jobs.
