MEPs suggested the creation of the European Capital of Tourism title
MEPs submitted a proposal to create the European Capital of Tourism title, in order to exploit the potential of the tourism sector in Europe as well as to its strategic development – Ujhelyi István, MEP of the Socialist Party in the European Parliament informed MTI on Monday.
According to the information, Ujhelyi István Socialist and Renaud Muselier People's Party MEPs at a press conference held in Marseilles in France suggested that the EU institutions should create the European Capital of Tourism title – simlar to the European Capital of Culture title. Three capitals in Member States could bear the title in a year on the basis of the decision of the professional organizations, the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Committee of the Regions.
