Economic sentiment deteriorated both in the EU and in the euro zone
The economic sentiment deteriorated in August in the European Union (EU) consisting of 28 Member States and in the euro zone consisting of 18 Member States – according to the Thursday published statement of the European Commission (EC).
In the EU, the economic sentiment indicator (ESI) decreased to 104.6 points in August, from the 105.8 points of July. In the the euro zone the economic sentiment indicator (ESI) decreased to 100.6 points from the 102.1 points of July.
The Thursday published economic sentiment indicator has been slightly worse than expected. The market analysts expected 101.5 points in the euro zone, compared to the actual 100.8 points. (MTI)
