The EU promises the comprehensive settlement of the dairy sector
Dacian Ciolos EU Commissioner for Agriculture promised the submission of a comprehensive package of measures to regularize the situation in the dairy sector, while hundreds of dairy farmers were protesting because of the low purchase prices.
The Ministers reviewed the situation of the dairy sector in Europe, and as Ciolos said they were looking for a way, that can inspire the producers to continue to maintain the viability of this industry.
The Romanian EU Commissioner for Agriculture Affairs pointed out, that the time has not come to the abolition of quotas in the dairy sector. He pointed out, that the milk is not just a certain type of product being manufactured, but also creates jobs, and also prevents the depopulation of certain regions as well – reports Origo.
