Saving food is cool! But how much? – Munch’s press event took place
Munch recently hosted a press event titled “Why is food rescue cool?” to present the “Hungarian Food Waste Report,” focusing on the current state of food waste in Hungary, sustainability, and the efforts of major food retailers to combat waste.
The event featured two roundtable discussions. In the first, environmental activist Bartus Marcell, food futurist Dalmadi Júlia, and Munch co-founder Wettstein Albert discussed the challenges of fighting food waste. They emphasized that sustainability needs to be affordable so it’s accessible to everyone, not just those with greater financial means. Wettstein noted that Munch leads in this area by making food rescue both eco-friendly and budget-friendly.
In the second discussion, representatives from PENNY, Auchan, and Munch highlighted their food-saving initiatives, including PENNY’s “Perfectly Imperfect” campaign and Auchan’s “Still Good” campaign. The event concluded with a Q&A session and a sustainable workshop where participants made eco-friendly Christmas decorations.
