The constant digital readiness and everyday expectations in the workplace and private life keep Hungarians in a constant state of attention and time. Based on a previous survey by the KSH, the majority is not satisfied with the amount of time that can be spent on rest and hobbies, it is difficult to properly allocate the hours available to us. We can do a lot even with small steps to increase free time or “me time” and improve mental well-being – the joint program of foodora and the Mindwell Psychological Center helps with this.

Based on the KSH’s 2022 subjective well-being survey1, the respondents rated their satisfaction with the free time available to them as 6.5 on a scale of 10. The least satisfied were the 35-44 age group, who rated the amount of their free time at only 6 points on average. There are many challenges in managing daily tasks and for many it is trying to leave time in the rush to connect with yourself and maintain your own mental health.

Challenges familiar to everyone

Our body also signals, headaches, fatigue, irritability and concentration difficulties can also indicate a loss of balance. It can make a big difference to our well-being if we recognize them in time and take the time to slow down. Meditation, stretching in the morning and evening, self-awareness exercises, sports, and playing with our pets all reduce stress hormone levels.

The campaign promoting mental health awareness by foodora and the Mindwell Psychological Center helps those who would like to break away from the whirlwind of the accelerated daily tasks, even if only for a short time. Ordering food is not only a convenience service, but also a great help in regaining some free time. Based on foodora’s statistics, placing an average order takes 9 minutes, while shopping, cooking and washing up on weekdays, on the other hand, take many times longer. Conscious scheduling of the extra time freed up in this way has an extraordinary effect on mental health, helps reduce everyday stress, and makes our days more predictable and structured.

“Foodora, as Hungary’s leading fast-food platform, invited us to a collaboration that would like to suggest the time for mental recharge that we save by ordering food from the menu. As part of the program, Mindwell also provides podcasts and social media content to help those interested in how they can use this freed up time to improve their mental well-being. The short but effective self-awareness exercises and stress management tips are especially for those who want to do something for themselves but have little time. Those interested can come across topics such as stress management, impostor syndrome or recognizing and overcoming self-sabotage.
