The head of the ministry explained that the food industry has an impact on our daily lives, and proper nutrition plays a key role in our health and in social and economic development. Vocational training plays an essential role in this, following the “farm to table” principle.
On the proposal of the Ministry of Agriculture, the government organized the secondary agricultural vocational training schools it maintains into five agricultural vocational training centers
The purpose of this is to increase efficiency, concentrate resources, create a training offer based on an assessment of local economic needs, and make the best possible use of the opportunities provided by the new vocational training law. It is important that the students participating in the training get to know a wide spectrum of theoretical and practical knowledge. That is why dual training places are necessary, where students can broaden their theoretical and practical knowledge in the real economic environment. This is supported by the sectoral training center structure. In 2023, the agricultural sector training centers were established with the participation of four agricultural vocational training centers. These can play a catalytic role in the coming period, helping the transfer of knowledge and, ultimately, the spread of sustainable agricultural practices, more efficient production, the production of better quality crops, and the development of a competitive food industry.
Today, agricultural technical colleges and vocational schools offer students a predictable life path
Young people can continue their studies at the agricultural universities from the technical school, and in the vocational training schools they can become masters of their profession in three years and successfully take their place in the world of work. The number of students in agricultural vocational training exceeds 20,000, of which the food industry sector has approximately 5,000 students. Renewing agriculture and agricultural vocational training are open to young people about to choose a career and those interested in adult education, as it offers innovative opportunities such as agricultural modernization, precision farming and agricultural digitization.
