The volume of exports of food, beverages and tobacco was 6.7 percent higher, and the volume of imports was 13 percent lower than a year earlier
In March 2024, the volume of exports was 10 percent lower than the same period of the previous year, and the volume of imports was 15 percent lower. The asset amounted to 1.6 billion euros, the balance improved by 572 million euros compared to a year earlier, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) announced on Friday based on its second estimate.
Compared to February, the seasonally adjusted volume of exports and imports both decreased by 2.0 percent.
In March, the value of exports was 12.3 billion euros (4,858 billion forints), and the value of imports was 10.7 billion euros (4,238 billion forints). Expressed in euros, the value of exports decreased by 14 percent and that of imports by 19 percent compared to the previous year.
Adjusted for the calendar effect, the volume of exports was 1.6 percent higher and that of imports was 5.7 percent lower in March this year than a year earlier.
The price level of foreign trade product turnover, measured in forints, was 1.5 percent lower in exports and 2.0 percent lower in imports than last March. The exchange ratio improved by 0.5 percent. The exchange rate of the forint weakened by 2.7 percent against the euro and by 1.1 percent against the dollar, the KSH reported.
