German inflation decreased in September
In September, according to the final data published by the German Federal Statistical Office, Destatis, on Wednesday, inflation in Germany fell to the lowest level since the start of the war in Ukraine.
In September, consumer prices exceeded a year earlier by 4.3 percent, according to preliminary data. In August and July, inflation was still above six percent, at 6.4 and 6.2 percent.
“The inflation rate has fallen to the lowest level since the beginning of the war in Ukraine. However, it remains high”
– said Ruth Brand, president of Destatis, adding: “the rise in food prices continues to be particularly felt by consumers”.
The prices of energy products were 1.0 percent higher in September than in the same month of the previous year, after 8.3 percent in August.
