Food prices rose by 0.9 percent in February compared to a year earlier in Germany
In February, inflation in Germany fell to a two-and-a-half-year low, according to the final data published by the German Federal Statistical Office, Destatis, on Tuesday.
In February, the consumer price index fell to 2.5 percent, the same as the preliminary estimate, from 2.9 percent in January in Germany, according to the final data. In December, inflation was still 3.7 percent.
Inflation lower than in February this year was last measured in June 2021 in Germany, at 2.4 percent.
In February, consumer prices rose by 0.4 percent compared to the previous month, also by the same amount as the preliminary data. In January, the monthly price increase was 0.2 percent.
“The inflation rate continued to weaken”
said Ruth Brand, President of the Federal Bureau of Statistics.
