The production of food, beverages and tobacco products decreased by 4.8 percent in December 2022
In December 2022, the volume of industrial production exceeded the previous year by 2.0 percent. Adjusted for the working day effect, production rose by 5.7 percent. The significant difference compared to the raw data is caused by the fact that there were two fewer working days in December 2022 than in December 2021 – the Central Statistics Office (KSH) confirmed on Monday based on its second estimate.
The volume of production decreased in most of the manufacturing sub-sectors, but among those in which it increased, the production of electrical equipment expanded the most. Based on seasonally and working day-adjusted data, industrial output was 3.8 percent higher than in November 2022.
The volume of industrial exports was 3.9 percent higher than a year earlier. Exports of vehicle production, representing 33 percent of manufacturing export sales, increased by 34 percent, while the production of computer, electronic, and optical products, which accounted for 13 percent, decreased by 1.2 percent.
The domestic sales of industry fell by 13.8 percent, and that of the manufacturing industry by 15.5 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.
The production of the manufacturing industry, which represents a decisive weight within the industry (95 percent), increased by 2.4 percent, that of the minor mining industry by 16.3 percent, while the output of the energy industry (electricity, gas, steam supply, air conditioning) decreased by 7.8 percent.
