MEPs urged stricter food inspections
The MEPs approved the new regulation enabling to tighten the EU food inspection system at the European Parliament’s plenary session in Strasbourg on Wednesday – the press service of the EU parliament reported.
According to the information, the recently revealed food falsification scandals have showed that the authorities should be able to control all members of the food chain with more efficient tools.
The new rules aim better food traceability, the fight against counterfeiting and restoring consumer confidence. (MTI)
