An American supermarket chain is removing LGBTQ-themed merchandise from its stores
One of the largest American department store chains, Target, based in Minneapolis, announced on Wednesday that it is removing or relocating LGBTQ-themed merchandise in its stores due to threats to store employees and customer objections.
According to the announcement of the seventh largest retail chain in the United States, before the traditional Pride themed month in June, in some of its hypermarkets and department stores operating mainly in rural areas, the merchandise intended for the thematic month will be moved from near the entrance to the back of the store.
The company’s statement did not specify exactly which products were in question, but according to reports reporting on the case, most of the objections concerned swimwear made for transgender people, the cut of which makes it possible to hide gender identity.
