Fewer people in the United States are concerned about climate change
Compared to the period before the pandemic, fewer people are now worried about the climate crisis in the United States, according to a poll by the American AP news agency. Economic topics and issues of social inequality are much more important to them.
Only 50% of those surveyed believe that individual activity has an impact on climate change. However, many people believe that the world’s governments and companies must act first against climate change. In a previous survey, in August 2019, 66% of the respondents felt that climate change has an impact. According to climate scientists, the latest result is disappointing.
Respondents still believe that climate change is caused by humans, but the world’s governments and international companies are also responsible for ensuring that the situation does not worsen. Most Americans think they need to change their lifestyle. Three-quarters of Americans who accept climate change use energy-saving devices, turn on the air conditioner less, and cycle more.
